Hole #8 at Cedar CrestIf you can work the ball from left to right, you may want to use that shot off of the tee. This par 4 can play longer than the yardage reads, since it is usually played into the prevailing wind and is slightly uphill. Like hole #5, there is a line of trees that run perpendicular to the fairway about 130 yards from the green. Favor the left side of the fairway off of the tee if possible. Most approach shots for right-handed players will be played with the ball below your feet due to the fact that the fairway slopes gently from left to right. If you were able to avoid putting your tee shot behind a tree, you should have a mid to short iron shot slightly uphill to the green. The green is protected by a bunker that will swallow up shots that leak short and right. As is the theme with most greens on the course, you will have to contend with mounds around the perimeter. The green is a two-tiered design, similar to the green on hole #5, yet it is a bit smaller. All of putts will break towards the front of the green, and the slope on the lower tier is more significant then that of the top tier. |
